What do you do when Mother Nature can’t make up her mind about spring weather? Play rugby anyway.
With a Saturday that at times was a snowy blizzard, at other times a beautiful, sunny spring day, the Wisconsin Women welcomed little sister team, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Women, to the Wisconsin Rugby Sports Complex on April 2.
Conditions made a true competitive match difficult – hard to play officially when you can’t see the pitch lines – but the two teams opted to play some fun, snow rugby. No score was kept. A rugby snowwoman was built.
A fun joint social was held afterwards at Wilson’s and was further enhanced by the surprise appearance of three men’s teams, including our Wisconsin Men, whose social plan had fallen through. A good time was had by all, despite Wisconsin’s wacky spring weather.
