Wisconsin vs. Chicago, 11 a.m. Sept. 19

The Wisconsin Women’s RFC will kick off against visiting league opponent Chicago Women at 11 a.m. this Saturday, September 19. Good friends off the field, the two teams will be battling for a much-needed win in the Midwest Division I Women’s league.

Wisconsin’s last home game of the Fall 2009 season, the teams will play at the Wisconsin Rugby Club’s Crossroads Field. Directions are available here.

Fans should leave their dogs at home as four-legged friends are not allowed at the field. There is no parking on the road near the field, but plenty of parking in the grass next to the field.

A great after-match social will be held after the game at the field, then later moved to Wisconsin’s sponsor bar, Wilson’s Grill & Bar, and dancing later at Plan B, one of Madison’s newest hot spots.

The Wisconsin Women’s RFC opened their Midwest Division I league season with a tough 46-14 loss to Chicago North Shore this past Saturday on the road.

After traveling south to Lemont, Ill., Wisconsin’s much-anticipated return to Division I play saw the women in red rack up two tries and two conversions against North Shore.

Assistant Backs Captain and Center Jackie Limberg touched down both tries for Wisconsin, including one with assists from Wisconsin’s two youngest players, Katie Schott and Jackie Neubert.

Forwards Captain Katie “Ber” Rouse and No. 8 Mary Hanks both slotted a conversion a piece to round out the scoring.

Wisconsin looks ahead to this Saturday’s home game against the Chicago Women at Madison’s Crossroads Rugby Field. Kickoff is 11 a.m.

The Chicago Women suffered a close 16-8 loss to league opponent Detroit on Saturday, so this weekend’s matches will prove key in determining playoff runs into October’s regional competition with the West Region’s top teams.
